BOB & MARION DIEFENDORF

In the mid 80's Robert Diefendorf developed a new type of protective coating, a space age Fluoropolymer designed to last 20-30 years. Robert and Marion then founded the company known as Shield Products The original product was developed because Bob had a 32ft Chris Craft that had a lot of Teak on it. Re-oiling Teak every 60-90 days was tedious work. He decided that there had to be a better way.  Laziness is the mother of invention.

After checking out various resins he found one that he was sure would work, he then researched the Marine industry and found that a product that would last a year would revolutionize the boating industry.

Two years later he had developed a Teak coating that would last for years. After successfully selling Teak shield to the Marine Industry for about eight years he moved on into other areas. He then developed a coating to preserve Brass, Copper, Stainless Steel, Silver and many other metals. This one totally prevents tarnish, rusting or corrosion. We now have coatings for all types of substrates including concrete and all types of fiberglass.

From there, things just continued to grow. Shield Products now sells to theme parks , water parks, manufactures, pool builders, construction companies, etc. all over the world,  you name it and we are there. Over 25 years of real progress!
