Teak Shield
 
Application Instructions

Note:
Do not use acid type cleaners. We recommend Shield Super Cleaner SKU 50800.If grooves appear lightly sand with #150-220 grit wet or dry sandpaper. Wood must be dry before application. Use moisture meter.

After cleaning wood thoroughly: Water base.

1: Apply first coat.
2: Apply second coat in approximately 45 minutes. Required for interior work.
3 18 hour window or wait 5-7 days before recoating.
   
     

Four coats can be completed in one day. If not completed, test before continuing. If product raises, wait and retest. Second coat requires   45 minute  between coats.  Third coat 1-2 hours
 

* Temperature and humidity have a large effect on drying time.

 

Catalyst:
Use crosslinker hardener as per instructions. Water base pot life 3 to 4 hours. Crosslinker optional. Solvent base 2- 3  hours pot life, subject to temperature and humidity.
Amount of catalyst: SKU70014- 4 ounces per gallon.

 
Application Data:
  Wet Film Thickness Range: 2.5 to 4.0 mils.
  Dry Film Thickness Range: 1-2 mils.
  Temperature Range: 40 to 90 Degrees F
  Relative Humidity: 90% Maximum
  Substrate Temperature: Dew Point +/- 5 Degrees F
  Minimum Surface Prep: Clean and Dry (No Acids)

  Air Spray Airless Spray Brush Roll
Tip Size: .055" .011"-.015" (10" fan) China Bristle Varnish Type Roller
Pressure: 30 to 60 Lbs 2000-2800 PSIG Sponge Brush Mohair 1/4"
 
Available in Water Base
Can be applied over most other coatings including varnish.
Solvent base
Theoretical Coverage: 500 -650 sq ft per Gallon
Finish: Satin or Semi Gloss or Gloss
Minimum Coats: one interior Two exterior, older teak may require more.
Flash Point: Pensky-Martens 110F+2F
Shelf Life: 2 year without crosslinker.
Maintenance: Should you need to make repairs on your Teak, feather edge the area and recoat.
Option:  Apply 2 coats Teak Shield Waterbase, Can always be recoated. Coat complete unit. Upper and lower.
