Product Specifications:
SHIELD PRODUCTS
Fluoropolymer - Application for Water Slides
Rough Finish Surface.
 

Note:
Fiberglass and gel coat are very porous. They hold silicones and various other products detrimental to coating.

Please Follow Instructions:
Spray slide with Shield Super Cleaner SKU 50800. Wait 10-15 minutes. (Do not allow to dry!). Pressure wash and rinse slide. This will remove most silicones. Allow to dry!
Abrade surface:
If necessary, sand blast surface or sand with 150 grit sandpaper wet or dry before applying Epoxy.
Note:
If it is necessary to sand blast, you may have to apply two coats of epoxy. Some times sand blasting is preferable if fiberglass is badly worn and rough.

 
First Coat: Sand surface before applying Epoxy.
Apply Epoxy color coat (SKU 20200) , 10-12 mils wet. Epoxy must completely hide surface, if not, apply additional product as needed.
  Second Coat:
Apply clear fluoropolymer (SKU 20059VC)- 2 mils wet. Will be tack free in 30 to 60 minutes. (Be sure to use Catalyst, 4 oz per gallon).
  Third Coat: If required?
Apply clear Fluoropolymer  (SKU 20059VC) -2 mils wet when second coat is tack free. (Be sure to use Catalyst, 4 oz per gallon).
 

Colors: Available in all coatings. Better  to use colors in epoxy due to chemical affect on pigments. Fluoropolymer will protect colors and finish. We recommend 844 Colorants. We stock.

Total Application Requires Three Coats. One Epoxy and Two Fluoropolymer Coats

Summary:
Apply first epoxy Color Coat 10-12 mils wet. Allow to tack. Apply first Fluoropolymer clear coat when Epoxy is tack free. Approximately 6-8 hours. Fluoropolymer first coat should be tack free in one hour. Apply second coat of clear Fluoropolymer. Cure time 5-7 days, subject to heat and humidity. You can walk on in 6 hours.  Traffic in 24 hours .Water will not effect Fluoropolymer after four hours.

Cleaning Equipment:
Clean epoxy applying equipment with MEK or Standard Epoxy cleaner.
Clean other equipment with MEK. Do not leave in equipment as it could ruin seals.
