SHIELD PRODUCTS

General Information
 

Fluoropolymer Resins are Similar to Paint in Application ONLY

1. You must have a clean surface. Our Shield Super Cleaner (SKU 50800) will do the job. We cannot recommend other products as we do not know if they are compatible with Fluoropolymers
 
2. You can apply our coatings to most substrates. Test a small area first.
 
3. You can post add colors.
 
4. You must apply metal cleaner for raw metal especially Galvanize.
 
5. You should not apply our colors over our clear product unless you lightly sand first. You can apply directly on most other products after cleaning.
 
6. For best results, it is recommended to apply our clear coat over dark colors. (Blue, Red, Black, Pink, etc) to protect them from UV.
 
7. One coat will normally provide 1 mil DFT with water base. Two coats will give 1 mil DFT with solvent base. One mil required DFT on both.
 
8. Cure times vary.
 
9. Pot life for water base unlimited unless crosslinked. Will not thicken and can still be used. Cure time 5- 7 days, subject to heat and humidity.
 

Solvent base cure time 5-7 days subject to heat and humidity. Pot life 3-4 hours. Will thicken and become unusable.
